A bachelor’s of science (BS) degree in alternative medicine is a four-year program that will incorporate both general education requirements—English, math, science—with specific course work related to alternative medicine. Bachelor's degrees in this field can be found as alternative medicine, health and wellness, wellness and alternative medicine, complementary medicine, or holistic health degree programs.
Alternative medicine is sometimes known as holistic health, although some feel the two terms are not quite the same. Alternative therapies include hypnotherapy, herbal sciences, holistic health, Chinese medicine, chiropractic, osteopathy, homeopathy, acupuncture, and massage therapy. While those working in chiropractics or osteopathy need a doctoral degree, most alternative medicine practitioners only need a certificate or a diploma.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate to complete regular 10+2 education in school with science as a major subject to take admission for Alternative medicine course. Some of the Indian states have their entrance examinations and students are given admission based on their cut-off marks in these entrance tests.
The rule applies to Diploma, Undergraduate and postgraduate courses. For admission into undergraduate degrees such as BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BNYS, students should have more than 50% marks in the Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology).
